Billy Beer... the best thing to come out of the Carter Administration
Billy Beer first went into production in July 1977, by the Falls City Brewing Company Louisville, KY). As it gained popularity, other companies canned it to meet demand. Due to high production, the cans don't retain nearly as much value as other brewania; yet, despite its low value it is still a higlhly sought after item.
Collectible cans from America's Oldest Brewery
Breweriana would not be the same if D.G. Yuengling & Sons, America's oldest Brewery, didn't make collectible cans. The cans on the left and middle were brewed expressly for Rick Haentjens. The can on the left is the summer edition from the Pocono Mountain 1978 Four Seasons set. The middle can is from the Rick Haentjens (1979) 5 can set of Coal Cracker Beer. The last can is a special edition marking 150th anniversary of the brewery. All three are steel, welded cans with pull tabs.

Sir Frothingslosh Pale Stale Ale collectible beer can (1979)
Red can edition featuring Sir Reggie
Also on can is the story of Fatima (winner of 1969 Miss Olde Frothingslosh beauty contest)
One of the more unique brands of beer has been Pittsburgh Brewing’s Olde Frothingslosh. It was invented as a joke by Pittsburgh radio station KDKA’s Rege Cordic in the early 1950s. The local brewer picked up the idea as a humorous Christmastime promotion and “the pale stale ale” ended up as the inspiration for about 30 different beer cans, most created specifically for collectors.

Laid by James (Cassette, Oct-1993, Island/Mercury)
Detailed item info
Album Notes James: Tim Booth (vocals); Saul Davies (guitar, violin); Larry Gott (guitar, background vocals); Mark Hunter (keyboards); Jim Glennie (bass); David Baynton-Power (drums).Additional personnel: Brian Eno, Martine McDonagh, The Kitchenettes (background vocals).Engineers: Benedict Fenner, Steve "Doc" Williams.Recorded at Real World, Box, England and The Windings, Wrexham, Wales. This Manchester-based band had already been around for 10 years by the time this seminal release hit stores. The band had always experimented in the studio and had long wanted to work with Brian Eno--and for LAID their wish was granted. The results are a combination of crowd-pleasing anthems, quiet ballads, and lullabies, all of which benefit greatly from the atmospheric tones of the sparser Eno-led production.Leading off with the spectacularly paranoid slow number "Out to Get You" and then moving straight into the upbeat "(Sometimes) Lester Piggott" and then see-sawing between the two states from there, LAID mirrors the therapy enriched lives of its creators. Lead singer Tim Booth's vision especially shines through in this collection, which was the band's first commercially successful record in the U.S. (Morrissey fans take note--Booth is allegedly who Morrissey is referring to in the single "We Hate it When Our Friends Become Successful.") Best known on LAID is the title track, a joyous paean to obsessive love. Play very loud. |

Coca-Cola and sports
Many companies form marketing partnerships with other organizations, but none has ever been more successful than Coke and sports. Coca-Cola has been a long-time sponsor of the Olympic Games since 1928. From commercials to sponsorships, the Coke name has been synonymous with sporting events. Their biggest marketing success, from the realm of collectibles, was the integration of sports memorabilia with the Coke bottle. Countless partnerings with NASCAR, MLB, NCAA ad others make coke bottles sought out for both collectors of Coca-Cola and sports collectors.
